Yesterday I went with a friend of mine to check out three exhibitions here in the City – they are closing soon, so if you want to go you should go now… We met in the Public Library, Main Library on Larkin Street, Civic Center. On the 6th Floor you find the Skylight Gallery with two exhibitions. Hand Bookbinders of California – 41st anniversary Membership Exhibition and Book Arts from the Arts-in-Corrections Program. Since we had some time we also went to the Book Arts & Special Collections, located on the 6th floor, and checked out some of Johanna Drucker’s work – as ‘an appetizer’ for the third exhibition. Which brought us to the San Francisco Center for the Book – where we looked at an excellent display of the work by Drucker: ‘Johanna Drucker – Druckworks – 40 Years of Books and Projects‘.
Book Arts from the Arts in Correction program – this one from San Quentin Prison – a watchtower, when opened four books are on display
